Our services are tailored to the seasonal grass growth experienced in Te Anau and to help clients comply with council. Grass growth is typically very seasonal in Te Anau and mows are needed in the September-May growing season.
Initial clearance of overgrown sections and infrequent mows are quoted separately. These jobs are typically priced higher due to slower mowing conditions and increased machine wear, but offer excellent value for the transformation achieved.

Overgrown sections in Te Anau are popular reservoirs for several pests like rodents and wasps. Craig often sees rats and mice, and occasionally rabbits, running out of the long grass when mulching, especially in the cooler months.
Request A Mowing Quote
Craig will initially discuss your mowing needs, visit your section, and provide an obligation-free quote. If the section is particularly overgrown or has rocks or rubbish that require removal before it can be mown, there may be an “Initial Mow” price quoted as well as a lower Mowing Programme price quoted that is available for subsequent scheduled mows.
Have Your Section Mowed
Craig Line-Trims or sprays herbicide around your section's services (Power, Sewerage and Water connections) as agreed with you. Craig then mows the section with a ride-on or tractor mulching mower depending on grass length. You can choose to have the boundary edges/fencelines sprayed occasionally as an optional extra if you want a tidier finish.
Peace Of Mind
Craig personally keeps an eye on your section for you and tailors the timing of mows to suit the seasonal grass growth occuring.
You can stipulate a maximum number of mows for the growing season to ensure mowing costs stay within your budget.
Photographs are emailed to you after each job so you can see your section and be assured of the work being done.
Section Mowing Plans
Fortnightly
~20 mows/growth season
Perfect for section owners who wish to achieve an attractive lawn-like finish. Mown using a ride-on mower and lawn clippings can be caught in a catcher and removed if preferred. Mowing frequency for a ride-on needs to be fortnightly in the high growth periods to prevent frequent blockages. Mowing may be extended out to three weekly or monthly when grass growth rates are low enough. Regular, scheduled mowing keeps the job efficient, making this the most affordable option per mow.
Monthly
~9 mows/growth season
Ideal for keeping your section under control year-round without the financial commitment of fortnightly mowing. Typically mown with a tractor mulching mower, this option maintains a tidy park-like lawn appearance and manages seasonal growth effectively. Monthly mowing is ideal for section owners who want to keep their section looking maintained but may not want to budget for fortnightly mows with a ride-on or where the section surface is not smooth enough for a ride-on mower.
Less Frequent
~4 mows/growth season
A total of four mows with the mulching mower scheduled approximately every two months over the prolific Spring to Autumn grass growing season.
This option results in long grass at times, well in excess of the 150mm maximum grass height stated in the Southland District Council guidelines. However, four mows is usually sufficient that the section appears to be somewhat maintained and can be enough to prevent complaints or council action. Individual mow costs are higher due to longer grass, slower mowing, and increased machine wear, but yearly costs remain lower thanks to fewer mows.

The tractor and mulching mower combination enable Craig to completely transform overgrown sections that far exceed the capability of regular ride-on mowers.

The tractor mower leaves a nice finish with mulched lawn clippings that breakdown quicker, unlike agricultural mowers and slashers that leave unsightly swaths of long grass lying on the ground.
