Seasonal Growth
In Te Anau grass growth is very seasonal and the lawn mowing season is usually from September to May, with little or no mowing required over the cold winter months. Every year is a little different, but with Fiordland’s high rainfall, it is common to have vigorous grass growth in Spring and also in Summer months if there is sufficient soil moisture.
Mowing Frequency
Mowing is scheduled fortnightly unless the client requests more regular mows. During hot, dry, or cool periods when grass growth slows, Craig will reduce mowing frequency accordingly.
We do not mow unnecessarily. However, during peak growth periods, lawns must be mowed fortnightly or more often. Three-weekly or monthly mowing during high growth periods is impractical, especially for lawns with fast-growing or young grass. Longer intervals cause mower blockages, difficulty catching grass, or excessively long grass that requires multiple passes to achieve a standard mow height, resulting in additional charges.
