Seasonal Growth
In Te Anau grass growth is very seasonal and the lawn mowing season is usually from September to April/May, with little or no mowing required over the cold winter months. Every year is a little different but with Fiordland’s high rainfall it is common to have vigorous grass growth in Spring and also in Summer months if there is sufficient soil moisture.
Mowing Frequency
Mows are scheduled on a fortnightly basis unless the client wants more regular mows. When cool or hot/dry weather conditions decrease grass growth Craig reduces the mow frequency accordingly.
We will not mow unnecesarily, however, please understand that mowing needs to be scheduled on a fortnightly or more frequent basis during high growth periods when there is a lot of lush grass growing, Three weekly or monthly mowing intervals are not practical or financially viable without charging extra at those peak-growth times of the year or on lawns with vigorously growing young grass. This is due to frequent time-consuming blockages in the mowers and difficulty catching excessive amounts of lush grass or the need to mow twice, once to reduce the grass length to a manageable height and then a second time to return the grass down to a normal lawn length.
